Leila joined the Global Institute for Water Security in September 2017 to pursue a Ph.D. through the School of Environment and Sustainability, University of Saskatchewan. She holds a bachelor degree in Irrigation and Drainage Engineering from the University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran (2001), and a master degree in Water Resources Management from K.N. Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran (2014). Leila has several years of experience in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and agricultural development projects in some large river basins in Iran. Her main research interests are finding interactions between human-driven activities and natural systems, integrated water resources management and planning, water policy, and Hydro-Economic modelling.
